  1. United Nations’ World Autism Awareness Day is annually observed across the globe on 2 April to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and promote livelihood of people having autism. The theme of World Autism Awareness Day 2023 is “Transforming the narrative: Contribution at home, at work, in the arts and in policymaking”. 
  2. World Asthma Day is annually observed across the world on the first Tuesday of May to create awareness about asthma, a chronic respiratory condition in which a person’s airways become inflamed, narrow and swell and produce extra mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe. World Asthma day 2023 was observed on 2 May. The theme of world Asthma Day 2023 is “Asthma care for All”.
  3. World Tuna Day is observed on 2 May every year to raise awareness about the importance of tuna fish and promote sustainable fishing practices. Tuna is a popular fish species which plays a crucial role in the marine ecosystem.
  4. Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikantan took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Southern Air Command on 1 May, 2023.
  5. At the end of the ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangam’ event, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, revealed a book called ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangam Prashasti,’ authored by Somnath Sanskrit University.
  6. For the first time in the history of Ladakh the Australian High Commission in India has announced its Government Grant for a project in Kargil.
  7. Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated on 30 April every year to commemorate the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) by the Government of India on 30 April, 2018 and to emphasize the importance of healthcare facilities for all citizens of India.
  8. Airtel Payments Bank has collaborated with the National payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to roll out Face Authentication for AePs (Aadhaar-enabled Payment System).
  9. At the 68th edition of the Hyundai Filmfare Awards Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ won the Best Film award and Prem Chopra got Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in cinema.  
  10. Tiger has been spotted in Kalesar National Park situated in Yamunanagar district, Haryana after 110 years.
  11. Alessandra Korap, an indigenous Munduruku woman from the Brazilian Amazon, has been recognized with a 2023 Goldman Environmental Prize, an esteemed award that acknowledges the efforts of six activists from six continents who work at the grassroots level to safeguard the environment.
  12. Experienced Mairaj Ahmed Khan and youngster Ganemat Sekhon, combined effectively to give India their first medal, a Gold in the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Cairo, Egypt.
  13. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal VR Chaudhuri presented AN-32 Spares to Commander of Sri Lankan Air Force for operationalisation of the Aircraft held by Sri Lanka.
  14. The government has appointed Siddhartha Mohanty as the Chairperson of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) until 29 June, 2024.  
  15. NASA scientists have successfully extracted oxygen from simulated lunar soil in a vacuum environment, which could pave the way for future human colonies on the Moon.
  16. INS Satpura and INS Delhi arrived at Singapore on 1 May, 2023 to participate in the Inaugural ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023) which is being held from 2-8 May, 2023.
